Pockets, Comfort, and Consciousness: Why Functional Design Matters in Fashion

Pockets in women’s clothing were a rare phenomenon not too long ago. Some western outfits did offer pockets, though; however, ethnic Indian wear took a long time to get into providing such functional elements as pockets in their designs.

Times have, however, changed for the better when it comes to functional, sustainable clothing in India.

Women need pockets as much as men do.
We do carry keys, money, mobile phones, a handkerchief or a bill or a pen… right?
Sharing my personal experience with you here.

I hate to carry my pouch while going for a walk in the park. Sometimes a lightweight fabric sling bag is a good option for me. But it often gets misplaced when I need it the most. Now, the pockets in my track pants or my top or kurta come to my rescue. It's easier and convenient than juggling through your drawers or wardrobe to find your lost bags or pouches.

This is a genuine problem I personally faced almost every single day. And like many, I would not wish to delve into lost and found mode every morning.

So, I thought. Why not have functional deep pockets in my kurtas and tops? Yes, I wear my kurtas like many Indian women for my strolls and walks. These feel more comfortable to me. And with pockets in them, I have made my life easier, believe you me.

Well, this is a small thing from my everyday life that I thought I would share with you all. I am sure some of you would resonate.
